English II Honors (Grade 10) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: English I Honors
English II Honors is a study of world literature with an emphasis on classical influences, especially during the first semester. Students read fiction and non-fiction. Continued stress on multi-paragraph expository composition includes focus on transition, sentence structure, quotation integration and diction. Students also compose writing in narrative, expository, argumentative and business writing forms. During second semester a research paper on a literary topic is included. Vocabulary building is achieved through the study of literary selections. Mini-units on grammar are also an integral part of the course.
