English I Honors

English I Honors (Grade 9) 1 Credit

Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation

English I Honors is an enriched college preparatory course including several units of study. The course will cover in-depth readings of classic and modern short stories, plays, and novels; a study of mythological allusions, and interpreting and analyzing non-fiction pieces. Writing focus is both process-based and on-demand response to literature pieces. Students learn the fundamentals of paragraph development, literary analysis essays, narrative essays, persuasive writing, journal reflections, and research paper essentials such as documentation of sources.
