Woods I (Grade 9-12) 1/2 Credit
Prerequisite: None
The purpose of the Woods Design I course will provide students the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to work in a safe, competent and professional manner. Allowing students the opportunity to develop basic woodworking, design and problem solving skills. Students will complete intro projects that require them to use all machinery within the woods lab. Woods I is offered full year or SEMESTER 1 ONLY.
Woods II (Grade 10-12) 1/2 Credit
Prerequisite: Woods I
This course allows students to build onto their knowledge from Woods I. Intro projects will be used to demonstrate machinery safety and operation. Students will be expected to be team leaders and peer problem solvers. After the intro projects, a personal project is required to take higher level of detail and scope of complexity. Students will explore new materials and techniques while developing an understanding of higher craftsmanship. Woods II is offered full year or semester.
Woods III (Grade 11-12) 1/2-1 Credit
Prerequisite: Woods II
Students will further develop their ability to use and operate all machinery within the Lab. Your first project will be collaborating with classmates to design/build and deliver a project to a client. Students will then develop a personal project for the remaining part of the semester or year. Woods III is offered full year or semester.
Woods IV (Grade 12) 1/2-1 Credit
Prerequisite: Woods III
Students will develop personal projects that are based around influential woodworkers. Students are viewed as Lab leaders helping with instruction and demonstrating previously learned techniques to classmates. Woods IV is offered full year or semester.
