Hi, I am Josie Humbert and the president of all things DECA! I have been a member of business club since my freshmen year but became very active my sophomore year. My favorite memory of business club was being able to takes the reigns of a Valentine's Day Roses Fundraiser I thought of. I got to create my own website for the very first time, reaching out to a local florist, and coordinating delivery of all the flowers last year. The president Jennie last year let me have the big responsibility of spearheading this project and I loved being a part of the entire process. DECA is the business competition we compete in ever year with the hopes to make it past state to nationals. This year due to the coronavirus it is entirely online. Despite the pandemic, we are having a record number of students participating in the competition this year and look to grow even further next year.
Outside of business club I am a member of the varsity soccer team at the high school, a state player for the Illinios Olympic Development Program, and play club soccer for the Chicago Edge. Additionally, I run cross country and indoor track for the high school. When I am not playing soccer or running, I am a officer in the Student Council, a member of Huskie Helpers, and in the Future Philanthropists Program for Oak Park and River Forest. I volunteer Saturdays at Beyond Hunger (Oak Park and River Forest Food Pantry) and work part-time for a woman owned business called Haley's Corkers. During my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I love going into Chicago and being part of the wonderful hustle of the city. I am thankful to be on the executive board of Business Club and the opportunities Mr. Purvis and Mr. Ciccolini have provided us thus far.
