Montana Task Force

for

Math and ELA Theory of Action

in State Assessments

Montana Alternative Student Testing (MAST) Pilot Program

Montana is a geographically large, rural state with distinct and unique regional and cultural differences. With its vast perspectives on education and assessment, the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) has carefully selected members to serve on this Task Force to share these different viewpoints, priorities, strengths, and challenges. The Task Force member selection ensures that the OPI’s design and development of the theory of action for Math and English Language Arts (ELA) lends these various perspectives and expertise to re-imagine what is possible and what is much needed for state assessments.

The OPI in partnership with the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment (Center for Assessment) is pleased to invite you to participate in the research phase of the Montana Alternative Student Testing (MAST) Pilot Program. The OPI is convening a Math and EL) Task Force where members have been identified by the OPI from a diverse group of education stakeholders using criteria such as geographic location, school and community experiences, district size, grade levels served, and cultural perspectives.
