PRIVACY POLICY
On the Bite
Effective Date: 8/26/2026
This Privacy Policy explains how On the Bite (“On the Bite,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects personal information when you use the On the Bite application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Our goal is to collect and use only the information reasonably necessary to provide and improve On the Bite.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on the features you choose to use.
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
Your name or display name;
Your email address;
Your account identifier; and
Other profile information you voluntarily provide.
We do not currently require a phone number as part of standard account registration.
If a future feature requests a phone number or other additional personal information, the purpose of that collection will be disclosed when the information is requested and this Privacy Policy will be updated where appropriate.
If you create or access your account through a third-party authentication service such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we may receive basic account information authorized by you through that provider.
We do not receive your Apple or Google account password.
Location Information
Location information is necessary for certain On the Bite features.
When you grant location permission or use a feature that requires geographic information, On the Bite may collect precise location information, including latitude and longitude.
We may use location information to:
Associate a fishing report with the location where the fishing activity occurred;
Assign fishing activity to an On the Bite geographic grid or area;
Display your position in relation to the map;
Support saved locations or waypoints;
Provide geographically relevant fishing and marine information;
Support trip-related or fishing-log features;
Support offline reports that are synchronized later; and
Improve the accuracy and usefulness of On the Bite.
Precise coordinates associated with ordinary public fishing reports are not intended to be displayed to the general public.
Public fishing activity may instead be shown within a generalized geographic grid or aggregated area.
Certain features may allow you to intentionally share information with a private group, crew, or other users. Information you choose to share through those features will be available according to the sharing option you select.
Although On the Bite is designed to protect exact fishing locations from ordinary public disclosure, we cannot guarantee that another person will never be able to estimate or infer a location based on report timing, fishing conditions, other information in the Service, or information available elsewhere.
Fishing Reports and User Content
When you submit information through On the Bite, we may collect the information you choose to provide, which may include:
Fish species;
Number of fish caught;
Number of fish kept;
Bait, lure, or fishing method;
Water depth;
Position in the water column;
Date and time;
Fishing location or geographic area;
Reports indicating that no fish were caught;
Group or crew information;
Waypoints or saved locations;
Trip or Fish Box information;
Messages, notes, or other information submitted through available features; and
Other fishing-related information you voluntarily submit.
Some of this information may be visible to other users depending on whether you submit it publicly, to a group, or through another sharing option.
Subscription and Purchase Information
If you purchase an On the Bite subscription, we may receive information necessary to recognize and administer the subscription, such as:
The subscription plan;
Purchase or transaction identifier;
Subscription status;
Purchase or renewal date; and
Expiration or cancellation status.
Payments made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by the applicable marketplace.
On the Bite does not receive or store your full credit or debit card number for purchases processed through those marketplaces.
If another payment method is lawfully offered in the future, payment information may be processed by an authorized payment provider under its own privacy and security practices.

If you contact On the Bite for customer support, account assistance, privacy requests, or other purposes, we may collect your contact information and the contents of your communication.

3. Aggregated and De-Identified Fishing Information
Fishing intelligence is a core function of On the Bite.
We may combine fishing reports and other information to create:
Fishing-activity heat maps;
Map-grid activity;
Species trends;
Fishing patterns;
Historical trends;
Statistical information; and
Other aggregated fishing intelligence.
We may retain and use aggregated or de-identified information for product operation, analytics, research, product development, and commercial purposes when that information can no longer reasonably be associated with an identifiable user.
This means that deleting your account may remove your individual account and reports while previously generated anonymous aggregate statistics or trends that do not identify you may remain.
4. Public and Group Information
When you submit a public fishing report, portions of that report may be made available to other On the Bite users or incorporated into aggregated fishing information.
When you submit information to a private group or crew, information may be visible to members of that group.
You are responsible for considering what information you choose to submit or share.
On the Bite may remove or restrict access to User Content that violates our Terms of Use or is otherwise inappropriate, fraudulent, unlawful, or harmful.
5. Sharing of Personal Information
On the Bite does not sell personal information for money.
We also do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use personal information to build advertising profiles across unrelated apps or services.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
Provide and operate the Service through companies that perform services on our behalf;
Process or verify a subscription;
Fulfill a feature you specifically request;
Comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental requests;
Investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms;
Protect the safety, rights, and property of On the Bite, our users, or others; or
Complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale, or similar business transaction involving On the Bite.
Service providers that process personal information on our behalf are expected to protect that information and use it only for authorized purposes.
Additional technical information regarding the services and technologies used by On the Bite will be maintained so that our disclosures accurately reflect the production version of the Service.
6. Data Retention
Our policy is to retain personal information only for as long as it serves a legitimate business, operational, security, or legal purpose.
While your account is active, we generally retain information necessary to provide the Service and the content associated with your account.
After Account Deletion
When you validly request deletion of your account:
Account information and personal data associated with your account will generally be deleted or de-identified from active systems within 30 days.
Individual fishing reports and other User Content associated with your account will also be deleted or de-identified so that they are no longer maintained as content associated with you, except where retention is legally required.
Information contained in system backups may remain for up to 90 days as the backups progress through their normal deletion or replacement cycle. Backup information is not intended to remain available for ordinary business use.
We may retain limited records for longer when reasonably necessary for:
Tax or accounting obligations;
Subscription or transaction records;
Fraud prevention;
Security investigations;
Enforcement of our Terms;
Legal claims or disputes; or
Compliance with applicable law.
Such information will be retained only for the period reasonably necessary for that purpose or for the period required by law.
Aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be associated with you may be retained indefinitely.
7. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your entire On the Bite account.
Account deletion is different from merely uninstalling the App or stopping use of the Service.
In the App
You may initiate account deletion using the account-deletion option provided within On the Bite.
Outside the App
You may also request account deletion without having the App installed by contacting:
admin@onthebitefishing.com
Deleting your account will permanently remove the account and associated personal data subject to the limited retention described in this Privacy Policy.
If you have an active subscription administered by Apple, Google, or another marketplace or payment provider, deleting your On the Bite account does not necessarily cancel that subscription.
You should separately manage or cancel your subscription through the marketplace or provider through which you purchased it.
8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Regardless of where you live, On the Bite provides users with reasonable control over their personal information.
You may request to:
Access Your Information
You may request information about personal data associated with your account.
Correct Your Information
You may update information available through your account or request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Delete Your Information
You may delete your account as described above or request deletion of eligible personal information.
Withdraw Permission or Consent
Where On the Bite relies on a device permission or your consent, you may withdraw that permission or consent.
For example, location and notification permissions may generally be changed through your device settings.
Withdrawing permission may prevent features that require that permission from functioning.
Additional Legal Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights.
We will honor legally applicable privacy rights and will not discriminate against a user for exercising those rights.
Requests may be submitted to:
admin@onthebitefishing.com
We may take reasonable steps to verify that a person making a request is the account owner or otherwise authorized to make the request.
9. Security
