Tax filing is completed by getting the return verified through IRS. You can verify your account on 'irs.gov/verifyreturn'. Putting in your information, uploading required documents and answering the questions will do it for you. Prior to return verification get your identity verified on the portal. Identity and Tax Return Verification Service is provided to prevent your refund from being stolen by some other person. This protects your account.
What you required to verify return?
For completing tax return filing, verfication is most essential step. This requires you to create an account on the irs.gov/verifyreturn prior to it-
Go to your IRS application, select your account.
Access 'Sign in with ID.me', put in Email Id.
Put in the password, click 'Confirming your email address'.
Proceed with email confirmation.
Thereafter, go with multi-factor authentication (MFA) process.
How to verify your identity with IRS?
With your ID.me account, you are allowed to verify identity through- Self-Service, Video call or In-person.
Primarily, sign-in your acccount choose any of three modes to verify identity on irs.gov/verifyreturn.
Opt Self-Service, then upload your IDs, Passport or Passport card. Thereafter, upload a video selfie, which IRS use to verify your identity. Enter ' Social Security number' into the required field. Proceed with Review, confirm all info accurately. Affirm 'Yes', a mail will be delivered to you. Consent the details, on the Authorize screen, go with 'Allow'.
With the 'On Video Call' service, doesn't require any biometric data from you, instead a 'Video Chat Agent' willl do it for you. With 'Get Started' confirm your info, take photo of your documents including US driver’s license or state ID, upload them. Put in related details demanded and Social Security number.
Move further, with 'Join video call', Agree to permission to record call. Finally, video starts as agent compares and affirms with identity document photo.
Choose 'In-Person' service, to start with signing-up your ID.me account, choose to book an appointment - 'In-Person Verification'. Then, click Continue., Save the appointment details, "Book Appointment".
As you go to appear for an interview, carry some identity documents. With the help of kiosk, put in your personal info and enter registration code. Proceed with steps ahead as guided by kiosk. Later on, you will receive an email through ID.me.
After proper confirmation, IRS allows you to take benefit of its online services. You are then move on to verify return.
