30th Annual Madrigal

"Generation To Generation"

"A warm welcome to you, from castle Olympia. It seems a sudden resurgence of the Bubonic Plague has severely overtaken the region and confined us all to our living quarters. We wish you could join us at the castle for this ... now over-abundance of boar and wassail - but nevertheless, the spirit of the season continues on - the music still echos through the walls of the castle. On this day, we celebrate the great wonder of the newborn King in our 30th Feaste! we remember a generation before us - the foundations of our kingdom, that have paved the way to today’s traditions - our youth, our joy; and all we have. May peace and good health be with you and your family...I bid thee all, Wassail!

To Castle Olympia... Drink Hale!"

Every year, the Olympia choir program hosts one of our district’s oldest known traditions in the Madrigal Feast - transporting our audience and performers back in time to Castle Olympia for comedic acting, good food, great company, and wonderful music.

Through the years, the Madrigal Feast has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences for our students, an opportunity for members of our community to come together and be involved in our program, and a great kickstart to the Christmas season. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 safety precautions put in place this year, our 30th annual madrigal feast is unable to take place, in person. This is where we really need your help.

The Madrigal Feaste also serves as the choir‘s largest fundraiser of the year to support the life of the program - including fees for various auditions, workshop and festivals, entry fees for competitions, hiring accompanists or other outside musicians for performances, equipment purchases, repairs, uniform maintenance, new music, and classroom resources, all for our students.

With your help, we can still afford to offer our students some of these opportunities this year, wherever they may exist, virtually - and be ready in the future when in-person activity returns without mitigation efforts.

Thankfully, our students have still been hard at work to keep the spirit of madrigals alive. We’ve been busy recording musical selections of this years program and hope to bring some part of that Madrigal magic to our community through music.

We hope that you would consider a charitable donation - perhaps what would have been the cost of this year's ticket to the show - and help support the remarkable efforts of our students in these challenging times and beyond.

Wishing peace and good health to you and your family.
