Concert Choir is the curricular course for high school singers. Previous singing experience and some music literacy is preferred. This choir continues to develop the voice focusing on SATB literature in a variety of languages and styles and continues to refine sight reading ability and music literacy skills. Concert Choir participates in many concerts, performances, contests, and festivals - as well major national tours every four years. Previous destinations have included: New York, Canada, and most recently Nashville.
Chamber Choir is an auditioned group of singers showing an advanced level of vocal ability and musicianship. Developed vocal tone, confident music reading skills, and a high level of dedication are essential to this group's success. The choir meets Monday evenings and performs difficult literature in a variety of styles and languages. Chamber is the featured ensemble at the annual Madrigal Feaste and participates in many concerts, performances, festivals, tours, and community events.
The 8th grade choir will continue to develop the singing voice, explore some SAB and acapella literature where possible, and focus on sight singing ability. Students will participate in festivals and contests where possible, as well as participate and perform in the annual Madrigal Feaste.
The 7th grade choir will continue to develop the singing voice and begin to explore choral literature of varying styles, langauges, and more independent voice parts. Students will continue to develop music reading skills, and be eligible for festivals and contests.
This is the entry level choir in the program. Students will continue with music literacy skills developed in the elementary years as well as focus on the production of a healthy singing voice, sight singing, and ensemble fundamentals.
