My name is Jessica Marcou and I am the 6-8 science teacher as well as 8th grade homeroom teacher. I have been teaching at OLV since 2010. I subbed for a year before I was formally offered the science position.
I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2007 with a BS in integrated science K-8, and then graduated in 2015 from University of Michigan Dearborn with a MS in science education.
I love just about all sciences but I prefer to teach and learn about biology and ecology.
I live on just about an acre of land and I am currently in the process of learning how to garden. I always learned from my dad, but now I am working on my own house and love native Michigan plants. I even dug my own pond and am working on making the area around it a meditation spot.
I love the outdoors and especially kayaking or hiking.
I live in Livonia with my husband Dave who is an EMT.
I have a 10 month old named Eliza. She is our first child and we are enjoying reading, playing and watching her change week to week. She keeps us on our toes!
Science at OLV is very hands on. We are following the Next Generation Science Standards which have many different areas of interest. For the most part, 6th grade is earth science. 7th Grade is life science and 8th grade is physical science (*as we implement, this is updating with classes).
