Incoming 9th grade
Hello and welcome! The purpose of this summer course is to give you an idea of what computer science is all about. Completing this course will give you a head start on the course in the fall and set you up for (hopefully!) successfully earning your first college credits! You will learn in Section 1 below, that this course is not just about learning to code, but how the internet works, the history of computing, and even math! You will have the opportunity to research and learn all about your favorite computational gadgets. However, this summer course was designed to get you coding first. There are a few videos and discussions about the internet and computational innovations but we will learn more about those topics in the fall.
Below is the schedule for the Summer AP CSP Course. First, click on the underlined LESSON, read the lesson, and participate in the embedded TRY IT practices. Once you have read the lesson, come back here to click on the EXERCISES. Complete each exercise. Occasionally you will see a question posted on the DISCUSSION BOARD. Click the link for the super easy instructions on how to reply to a discussion board. You may email questions to me (see above) or post a question in Google Classroom (see above). You should have received an email for me with a link to sign up for the Google Classroom page. If not, don't worry, there are instructions below in Section 1. You may work at your own pace, but you will be expected to complete all lessons and exercises by the COMPLETION DATE to stay on track. The lessons are arranged into 3 sections, with about 2 weeks to complete each section for a total of 6 weeks. (remember you can move faster if you wish!)
