Mrs. Nygren's 5th Grade Class 2018-2019


I wanted to express my gratitude to the many families that donated a book from the book fair to our class. They have already been taken out by our students! READ, READ!!


What will we learn this week? - February 11th

Religion- We are learning about the life of Moses. After our book study we will watch the fabulous Disney award winning animated movie- The Price of Egypt.


Our Virtue of the month for February is honesty ,and the saint is Saint Kateri Tekakwitha .The material in class and the at home project will be sent home in the Friday Folder. The at home project is due February 28th. Please refer to the Virtues in Practice link on my website for additional information on the program.

ELA- We will be reading Chilin Purse, a Chinese folktale. The students will write a compare and contrast paragraph in which they must cite text to support their answer. Grammar will include simple tenses of present, past and future.

Math- We will learn how to add and subtract mixed number with like and unlike denominators. Many word problems will be explored and solved. We will have a quiz on Thursday.

Science- We have begun our soil, rock and minerals unit. We will be learning about the importance of soil, how to conserve it, and the different materials that compose the soil.
