(dated: 8/30/2018)

The Calhoun County Prosecutor has asked me if I can assist him in getting the attached letter out to our Olivet families. The letter addresses the prosecutor's position on school threats and advising families of actions they can expect if threats are made.

Each new school year, we welcome the instructional staff back from the summer break and host a "Welcome" breakfast or lunch and provide professional development to all staff. This year, our school district asked the Eaton County Sheriff's Department to host a training on "active shooter" and test us all on our emergency preparedness. Thanks to Sergeant Brooks and Sheriff Tom Reich from the Eaton County Sheriff's Department for organizing this drill. Bringing together local Police, Fire, 911, EMS, SWAT and Detectives allowed our staff an opportunity to learn and prepare to better protect our schools and students. This was a huge undertaking in terms of preparing for this drill and training and we cannot thank them enough! The professionalism exhibited was SUPERB!

Employee Service...

OCS has a tradition of recognizing employees for their service to the district each year, in increments of five years. This year we honor the following and thank them for their service to the education of our children. Being a district, hidden between Charlotte and Marshall, along the 69 corridor, we are fortunate to employ such talented, dedicated and caring staff members. We thank them for their service!
