Raising Spontaneous Speakers and Vigilant Listeners

Young children's language skills develop when they get lots of opportunities to listen to and speak with others. Children need to be encouraged to share information, ideas, and feelings with each other. Developing speaking and listening skills during early years is crucial for optimum overall development of children. There are various ways through which early care givers can support and boost these skills in the children.

Using the child's interests to introduce new words and concepts.

Encouraging the child to use longer, more detailed sentences by adding to what they say in conversation.

Asking questions that encourage thinking and require more than a yes-or-no answer. Using rich vocabulary—unusual or difficult words that are new to children.

Talking to them throughout the day can make them feel motivated to talk in return.

Story times can also help a preschooler develop a love of reading and books and eventually speaking. Tell stories. Make up elaborate stories with characters, conflict, adventure, and a happy ending.

Young children love music and movement. When they listen to lively songs they learn about the world around them and the rhythm of language.

Criticizing the child's articulation or speech patterns should be avoided. Instead, we can repeat their statements back to them with the correct pronunciation or word usage, not forgetting to give the child lots of praise for their efforts.

A trip to the zoo, the aquarium, or a children's museum can open up a whole new world for the child. As an added bonus, they'll want to learn the names of all those fascinating creatures and fun activities they experienced.

Follow your child's lead. If your little one seems interested in a particular picture in a book, keep talking about it. Repeat their babbles back to them, ask questions, and interact with them.

Strange Music Day Celebration

When it comes to the word ‘strange’ it means something that is unfamiliar. The purpose of Strange Music Day is to listen to and explore music that you have never heard before. This is especially fun with children, since it gives you the opportunity to introduce new music to them. As kids love to listen and make different sounds of music, we conducted a fun musical engagement for learners which was “STRANGE MUSIC DAY”. For these activities our learners created some fun and strange music with utensils and other available material. They were asked to keep a glass filled with water and they had pour the water into other empty glass and listen to the music it makes. They were also asked to fill a cardboard box with any material available and create shakers with sounds.

Such engagement helps the child to improve their listening and aesthetic skills, also discover and explore their creative side.

Literacy - Nursery - Letter H

Having a solid foundation in early literacy skills is critical to children's future reading performance. Early literacy development begins in the first three years of a child's life and supports their future language development, reading, writing, and overall learning.

This is why alphabetic recognition is one of the very first skills children learn while they are beginning readers.

After the recapitulation of Aa to Gg, a new letter Hh was introduced to our nursery learners. They were able to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letter H with basic phonic sounds, jolly phonics songs and associated pictures. Through showcasing a video and story based on the letter Hh, they have learnt a few new vocabulary words such as - Horse, Hen, Honey, Hanger, Hat, Hippo, Hand, Head, Hills, Harry, Humpty, etc. They were asked questions related to the story for better understanding.

The fun and play activity on letter H was done with our little learners, where they had to finger trace letter H by using different materials such as salt/ flour/ sand, etc. They were also encouraged to construct uppercase letter H with the help of ice cream sticks.

Such engagement helped the learners to recognize and know the letter formation and improve their kinesthetic skill, eye-hand coordination and critical thinking skill.

understanding Emotions - Happy, Sad, Surprise and Angry

An emotion is a feeling such as happiness, love, fear, anger, or hatred, which can be caused by the situation that you are in or the people you are with. Emotion is the part of a person's character. Recognising our emotions and learning to manage them is one of the most important skills we can have.

Our tiny tots had got an opportunity to learn, know and understand emotions and feelings. So they were told to create their emotions through actions and draw emotions on circle cutout paper by using coloured paint. To start this activity, our little buds had to dip their pointer finger into colour and print fingertips on the circle paper portraying different types of emotions like - Happy face, Sad face, cool and angry face.

Such activity helps children to develop their kinesthetic, cognitive and multisensory skills. Teaching children about their emotions and how to manage them can help develop strategies and life skills to navigate their way through tough situations and handle them in a more calm, purposeful way.

Brain Break - nursery - stack the glasses

Brain breaks are an important part of learning. These breaks allow students a small reset in the day and enhance energy and relaxation. The purpose of brain breaks is to switch neural activity to different networks. They typically get students moving and allow blood and oxygen to flow to the brain. When kids are working , most of their energy goes to specific parts of the brain that are used for attention and critical thinking. Brain breaks reset these areas to reduce stress and improve learning when kids return to task.

Our tiny tots have regularly followed short brain break exercises during their live interactions where they have to do small mental breaks designed exercises to help them focus and be more productive. Our nursery learners did a Stack the glasses activity, where they had made a pyramid by using glasses as they followed 3, 2, 1 steps. They were excited to see their final work presentation.

Brain breaks can also help kids learn to self-regulate and be more aware of when they're getting fed up or losing track. It can decrease stress, increase productivity, boost brain function, and provide opportunities for children to learn social skills.

Brain Break - Junior kg - BEAR WALK

Brain breaks during homework or lengthy chores can help relieve that frustration. A brain break is just what it sounds like: a break from whatever kids are focusing on. Short brain breaks during work time have been shown to have real benefits they reduce stress, anxiety, and frustration. And they can help kids focus and be more productive. Brain breaks can also help kids learn to self-regulate and be more aware of when they’re getting fed up or losing track of what they’re doing.

Taking regular breaks can help to prevent study fatigue and keep you focused. These breaks allow you to refresh your mind and improve creativity, as well as helping you to maintain your attention and regain your motivation.
