Guest Speaker: Arizona State University professor Karen Brown
“Living with a gifted child is like living in a theme park of full thrill rides. Sometimes you smile. Sometimes you gasp. Sometimes you scream. Sometimes you laugh. Sometimes you gaze in wonder and astonishment. Sometimes you're frozen in your seat. Sometimes you're proud. And sometimes, the ride is so nerve-wracking, you can't do anything but cry."
Gifted and high ability learners may struggle to find ways to connect with peers and establish lasting friendships. Perfectionism, anxiety, and other social struggles may impact the academic and social development of these learners. Understanding the challenges starts with identification and then the development of strategies to guide gifted learners on their social/emotional journey.
Dear Parents of Gifted & Talented Students,

Depth & Complexity Overview:
The Depth and Complexity Icons are visual prompts designed to help students go beyond surface level understanding of a concept and enhance their ability to think critically. These critical thinking tools help students dig deeper into a concept (depth) and understand that concept with greater complexity.
We look forward to seeing you soon! If you have any questions, please contact Gifted Education Coordinator John Steele: firstname.lastname@example.org / 970-249-7726 ext: 4902
