Library Seeks Student Participants for National Astronomy Program
March 10, 2026
This April, the library is excited to introduce YouthAstroNet, a national astronomy program designed for students in grades 5–9. YouthAstroNet connects kids and teens with scientists and gives them hands-on opportunities to explore the universe. Participants can request real images from remotely operated robotic telescopes, analyze astronomical data, ask big questions about space, and more. In fact, the background image on this page is a true color image of the Orion Nebula that we requested ourselves through the program!
The library will host two 5-week group sessions beginning the first week of April. Each session will last 2.5 hours and will conclude with a final exhibition showcasing student discoveries. All supplies will be provided by the library. One group will meet on Saturdays, and the other will meet during the week (Tuesday or Wednesday).
The library aims to create a schedule that works best for families who wish to participate. Please take the brief survey and provide your preferred schedule and help shape this exciting new opportunity.
