To identify what volunteer projects your school site has, first look at your site as a whole. Volunteer Projects can be relatively standard across different schools, but you know your staff & students best! Ask yourself the following questions and see what projects would best serve your school.
What recurring events do you have each school year?
Does your front office staff need support on minor tasks?
Would teachers benefit from a guest speaker or extra set of hands from time to time?
Volunteer Projects don't all have to happen during the school day or a typical 9:00 - 5:00pm. To reach a wider audience for volunteers, think of creative ways that folks can be involved if they have a unique work schedule! Example: A guardian works during the day, so they can't attend an event planning meeting to create decorations for a school dance. Have them make the decorations at home and bring them in when they drop off their child in the morning!
Our Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and we want to give them the best chance to have a great experience, first step to that is providing opportunities that they can attend! When Volunteers see that there are opportunities that they have the availability to engage in, they'll be more likely to check in for other projects & keep coming back!
