Medication Policy

For more information, please read District Policy # 210.

If parents/guardians want the school nurse to give medication to their children while they are at school, the following guidelines must be observed:

Before any medication may be administered to any student during school hours, the Board shall require the written request of the parent/guardian which shall give permission for such administration and relieve the Board and its employees of liability for administration of medication; and the written order of the prescribing physician which shall include the purpose of the medication, dosage, the time at which or special circumstances under which medication shall be administered, length of period for which medication is prescribed, and possible effects of the medication. Note: All medication must be brought to school by a parent or guardian. It must also remain in the original pharmacy or physician labeled container. Students are not permitted to transport medication in their school bags.
