What is developmental screening?

Screening is the process of measuring a child's development. Depending on your child's age and where the screening takes place, we utilize either the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) or the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning, Fourth Edition (DIAL-4) to look at the areas of:

Speech and language

Motor skills

General knowledge

Hearing

Vision

Self-Help Skills

Social-Emotional Development

Why should I have my child screened?

Children rapidly grow and change through the early years. Nearly 90% of all brain development happens in the first five years of life. 1 in 8 children in the United States have a developmental delay and many are not identified by the time they enter kindergarten. That is why Pediatricians recommend annual screenings for children 0-5. Screening provides parents with information on the individual growth of their child and the early detection of potential delays that may affect later learning.

All screenings will take place at the OFSD Early Learning Center located at 3489 Boschertown Road St. Charles, Mo 63301
