Political Reforms

With the assassination of Czar Nicholas and the his family, (the Romanovs), the century's old absolute monarchy of Russia was abolished. the Union of Soviets Socialists Republic (U.S.S.R) was established by Vladimir Lenin on the 30th of December, 1922. The Bolshevik Revolution, as it was called, was the first successful Communist Revolution in history. 

Power soon passed to Joseph Stalin who turned the Soviet Union from a monarchy into a totalitarian state.
