Battle of the Books (BOB)
Wisconsin’s WEMTA (Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association) sponsors a statewide reading competition for the elementary schools and the middle school. Students form teams of four, read books from a specific list, and answer questions about the books. BOB encourages reading, explores different genres, and fosters the love of reading.
Global Read Aloud (GRA)
Students and teachers across the globe read the same books. Classrooms and communities are connected through the power of reading. GRA broadens students’ appreciation of diverse perspectives, enhances reading skills, and creates a sense of global community.
MakerSpace
The makerspace in the library is a place to learn by doing! Think of it like a super fun creation station. In a makerspace, you can build things, design stuff, and make your own projects. It's all about being creative and having fun while learning new skills with a variety of tools and technology!
Scholastic Book Fairs
A Scholastic Book Fair is like a special bookstore that comes right to your school! It's a time when lots of new and fun books are brought into the school for you to look at and buy. Hosted twice a year at the elementary schools and once a year at the middle school.
School Library Month
School Library Month is a special time in April when we celebrate our school library and the people who work there, like our librarians! School Library Month is like a big "thank you" to the library for helping us learn and have fun with books. It's a time to remember how important the library is for everyone in the school. It's a place where you can discover new worlds, learn amazing things, and find stories you'll love!
Summer Reading Program
Abrams Elementary School and Oconto Falls Elementary School are partnered with the Oconto Falls Community Library for the community library’s summer reading program.
