CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

At Odyssey Charter School, we believe that children have the potential to succeed, and our goal is to help them realize that potential.

To ensure this success, your child must come to school ready to learn and willing to cooperate with his/her teachers and fellow classmates.

CLASS RULES

Our CLASS RULES are simple, and are structured around a few guiding principles:

1. One Person Talks at a Time

Whether a teacher or student is talking, we will show courtesy by being good listeners.

2. Be Respectful

We show respect and honor to teachers, classmates, our school, and the property of others.

3. Keep Your Body in Control

Students are responsible to manage their own behavior.

4. Do Your Best

Students should strive for excellence and aim for growth. We understand that mistakes are part of the learning process. The goal is to take responsibility for our own learning.

REWARDS & SELF REGULATION

My behavior management plan is centered on helping children to develop responsibility for their choices, and to learn self regulation.

Our REWARD SYSTEM is structured to focus on the good.

Each student will have an individual card pocket, containing a red, yellow, green, blue, and purple card. Students will begin the day with the green card on top. When students are on task, doing great work, following directions, or exhibiting exemplary behavior, they will be given the chance to move their cards ahead to blue and purple. If students are not on task, breaking class rules, or being disruptive to classmates, they will be asked to move their cards down to yellow or red.

Students will earn points each day based on the color they have earned. Points will be collected, and students will have the opportunity to earn incentives and win prizes for their good work.

If a student ends the day with a red card, they will take home a "Stop and Think" form for parents to discuss and return. If there are any patterns of misbehavior, I will meet with parents to set up an intervention plan.

Any extreme or disruptive behavior will be referred to school administrators, and will be dealt with according to school policy.
