The world of 3D printing has been around for a while however the cost was so that only industry could justify the technology. In recent years machines and print materials have become much more affordable for schools and the individual interested in designing and printing on a small scale. 3D printing has changed industry and almost any field that is used for designing and manufacturing. The original reason of 3D prints was to see drawings come alive to an actual prototype being produced. Designers now do not have to wait for a part go through various stages that took time, money and skilled workers to produce. It is much easier to visually see the full size part, check for issues and share with others on the design teams. The parts can be produced in a relatively short period of time and can be checked for specific tolerances. Some of the industries using this technology are;
- Medical field
Students who are planning to study at a college, technical, or vocational school would greatly benefit knowing these skills. The best part for me after learning how it all worked is to go from concept, design and production to see a final quality product in a short period of time.
