Welcome to our Pre-K Class

We are so excited to begin our new OCSI Early Childhood (PreK) program for this year. We will combine the three and four year olds into one classroom so they can all engage in daily literacy, enjoy learning centers, and grow in their understanding of our various themed projects. Exploration projects will include Going to School, Caring for Animals, Celebrations, Our Neighborhood, Growing Plants, and Our Five Senses. Our new curriculum will also incorporate Project-Based Learning that promotes both academic and social growth, so that we can better meet your children's needs and keep them challenged. We look forward to a great year of learning and growing together.

We had a great first week in Pre-K. It was nice to welcome back returning students and to meet new ones. The first two weeks we will begin building community and learning our classroom routines. A plastic folder was sent home on Friday with your child. Please return the folder to school with your child.

Here are some photos from our first week.

The children sound wonderful and it will be exciting to share their gift of songs and snacks with Yomitan no Sato. If you are available, please feel free to come and walk down with us from school or meet us at Yomitan no Sato. Here are some photos from week 4.

It has been quite the weekend! We are just now able to update our class website. We hope everyone is doing okay after our Typhoon Weekend. The school is still without electricity. Teachers and staff were there this morning cleaning up the outside and inside the classrooms. Unfortunately, our Pre-K classroom got quite a bit of water inside the room. We're just thankful that everyone is safe and now just waiting for the electricity and water to come back on.

This week instead of photos of our class we are posting photos of last year's Pre-K and Kindergarten Family Sports' Day. We hope everyone will be able to join us on October 26.
