Ms. Emily Tuzi

Welcome to music!

Hello everyone!

My name is Ms. Tuzi and I'm the music teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. This is my third year at OCSI and I'm looking forward to seeing old and new faces in music class this year!

Background: I've never lived in any place for more than 5-6 years, so it is hard to say where I'm originally from. I've lived in Virginia, several places in Pennsylvania, and Chiba. I graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Music Education and a minor in Computer Science. I am a certified Virginia state K-12 Music Teacher with a choral specialization. In 2020, I found OCSI just by searching around the internet and felt God was leading me to teach in Japan. Despite everything going on in the world with COVID, God allowed me to come to OCSI to fulfill this role as the music teacher. I pray we can have a wonderful school year, no matter what unexpected things may happen!

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Ukulele, Guitar, Soprano and Alto Recorder, Cello, mallet instruments. I am currently a member of the Chatan Wind Orchestra as a percussionist. I hope to learn a little bit of Sanshin or Shamisen during my time here in Japan!

Hobbies/Likes: Of course, I love music. Listening, making, and performing it. Aside from music, I enjoy playing video games. I prefer single player open-world/adventure games, but it's fun to play with people too even if I'm not very good and it (Smash Bros, Mario Kart, DOTA 2). Most recently I've been playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I love coffee, sweets/desserts, fruits, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Hello Kitty, and anything purple.
