How to Succeed in Grade 11 Math (and your other classes!)

1. LESSON - Teacher centered learning

Pay attention in class. Put away distractions. Sit close to the front. Ask questions. Take notes.

2. HOMEWORK - Individual learning (reinforces teacher learning)

Try the assigned homework. Spend some time on it and figure things out.

3. GROUP WORK - Peer learning (reinforces individual learning)

Discussion about homework the next day in class. Ask your peers how they got their answers. Ask the teacher to explain the questions you struggled with.

This does NOT replace #2

4. TEST - To see how well you've learned.

By now, you should have seen the problems 3 times. Once in a lesson, second in the homework and third in the group discussion/homework take-up. You should not be surprised on the test.

5. EXTRA WORK - on your own time

See teacher at lunch, after school, before class, etc. Do extra homework that was not assigned. Get into a study group. Go to homework club once a week. Put in the time and you will be rewarded.
