Watch Canada - A Peoples History #7 1815 - 1850, start at approximately 24 mins.; take notes on some of the key points - submit your notes.

Week of Jan 30th - Watch Canada - A Peoples History #6 start approximately 50 mins. Make notes on the key points - optional to submit for extra marks.

Week of Jan 23th - Final week to work on project - Was Canada a Better Place to live in 1850? Use the portions of Unit 2 posted above.

Week of Jan 16th - work on Was Canada a Better Place to live in 1850? Use the portions of Unit 2 posted above.

Week of Jan 9th - review timelines 1713 - 1792 copy and discuss the importance of key events. Timeline - 1800 - 1850, copy and discuss; project based on the events of this period. Read the inserts above and respond to the question - Was Canada a Better Place to live in 1850? You should consider the perspective of at least 3 different groups, one of those being First Nations peoples.

Week of Nov. 7th - Monday is the last class period to work on your letter from New France about the living conditions. November 6th to 12th is the first Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario. Where to find resources for teachers on the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation website under Treaties - WEBSITE You will pick one treaty from the website that you are interested in - to be done groups of 2 - 3 -you will do a brief presentation to the class with Key Points being written on a small white board. In your own notes define what a Treaty is.

Week of Oct. 31st - Letter, Life in New France - read the newly posted version with more detailed instructions & a rubric

Week of Oct. 24th - Assignment - Life in New France in pairs, 4 classes (using Google Read & Write), to be completed using Google Docs in History File - Google Drive. Each partner will do their own letter showing an understanding of life in New France. Choose 2 things to write about from each sub section for your letter. Write your letter in size 12 font .

Week of Oct.17th - - handout -Beliefs & Attitudes Chart - First Nations Peoples & French Settlers, note book check for completion. Complete handout - Advantages & Disadvantages of First Nations peoples working with the French. Introduction to assignment - Life in New France letter; in pairs, 4 classes, to be completed using Google Docs in History File - Google Drive.

Week of Oct. 10th - The Seigneurial System BLM 1.2. - complete the sections for the First Nations & the French. (back of 1.1)

Week of Oct. 3rd - In class reading - Canadian Beginnings, 1713

Identify the people living in North America (NA) in 1713 & why the land was important for different reasons. Formulate questions about life in NA & examine the time period using continuity & change. Explain how the land was divided by the Treaty of Utrecht & how the divisions affected people's relationships. Copy the brainstorming chart, Figure 1.7, p 26. Handout - Comparing Ways of Life and Land Use BLM 1.1, - complete the sections for the Haudenosaunee & the Algonquians.

Week of Sept. 26th - Read using this Resource & What is History; this can only be done at school using iPads when Ms Tracey signs in - copyright with textbook information.

Week of Sept. 19th - watch part of CBC Canadian History Video to get a better understanding of the time period. Read together - What is History?

Thursday we have an assembly to attend.

Week of Sept. 12 - finish title page; include History, your name, Ms Tracey & one picture that reflects Canada between 1713 & 1850. Read using this Resource & What is History

Week of Sept. 6 - Grade 7 Scavenger Hunt (to familiarize students with school) & grade level assemblies
