Course Overview: All instruction is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Grade 6

History & Cultural Influence

• Trace traits of societies shaped by colonization, immigration, and trade
  
  

• Analyze how historical events explain current conditions
  
  

Geography

• Use geographic tools to explore locations, distributions, and patterns across world regions
  
  

• Describe human-environment interactions, including modifications and adaptations
  
  

Economics

• Discuss production factors (natural resources, labor, capital, entrepreneurs)
  
  

• Compare economic systems: free enterprise, socialist, communist; assess ethics and global trade interdependence
  
  

Government & Citizenship

• Explore concepts of limited vs. unlimited governments
  
  

• Examine citizenship roles, rights, responsibilities across societies and opportunities for civic engagement
  
  

Culture & Diffusion

• Define culture, multicultural societies, and culture regions
  
  

• Investigate cultural diffusion through trade, travel, war, and technology’s role in change
