Dr. Maria Goldman is a pediatric neuropsychologist in private practice in Columbus, Ohio. She works with preschoolers, school-age and adolescents with a wide range of neurodevelopmental concerns. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her doctoral degree from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology, where she specialized in child clinical psychology and assessment. Subsequently, Dr. Goldman was selected to join the pediatric neuropsychology internship class at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. She continued her specialization in pediatric neuropsychology at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UM). She received unique training as a postdoctoral research fellow working with children with chronic illnesses, including childhood cancer and sickle cell disease. She was the co-investor in a research study funded by the American Cancer Society and principal investigator in a study funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institute of Health. The research involved examining the effectiveness of Individual Education Plans and parent-focused interventions to improve academic outcomes for children with chronic illnesses.
Dr. Goldman served on the faculty at UM as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics where she continued her research with childhood cancer survivors and children with sickle cell disease, examining the impact of the disease on cognitive development. Dr. Goldman has presented locally and nationally on these topics as well. In 2013, Dr. Goldman accepted a position as a pediatric neuropsychologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH). At NCH, Dr. Goldman provided neuropsychological evaluations to children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of complex neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, extreme prematurity, epilepsy, and cancer. Dr. Goldman was also an active member of the training program, providing clinical supervision to psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows.
Dr. Goldman is bilingual in Spanish and English.
Dr. Goldman is a member in good standing of the American Psychological Association and is bound by the ethics and guidelines of that organization. In addition, she is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society and the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society. She continues to be involved in the research projects at UM.
