Senior Lunch Spot

As the temperature began to drop, seniors at OTHS struggled to find an alternative spot other than outside in the courtyard to sit at lunch. Since September, the courtyard has been a designated “senior-only” spot for lunch. Now, with the unbearable cold, the courtyard was no longer an option for seniors. They searched for spots in the cafeteria and in the gym but they were already packed. It seemed as if most of them were able to squeeze in and find a spot, but they didn't feel as comfortable as they did outside.
Fortunately, there was hope for the seniors, an open spot in the back gym. With the gymnastics season coming to a close, it became the perfect place to hold more seniors than even in the courtyard. Since the freshmen already had their own space that’s inside, the seniors also deserved to have their own space during the winter months too. Opening up the back gym not only gives them a separate space outside of the overcrowded cafeteria, but also brings back the enjoyable sense of community that the courtyard provided in the warmer months. Due to the inclement conditions outside, this space now provides the perfect atmosphere for seniors to go to and it also helps maintain the fairness of the senior privileges over the other grades. The back gym has become a great solution to making the new unit lunch an even better experience for seniors.
