by Spartan Spirit Staff
On December 29, 2024 President Jimmy Carter died at the age 100, as the oldest living former president, after years in hospice. On January 9, 2025, the United States will observe a National Day of Mourning in honor of Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter’s funeral will be held in the Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C with loved ones and presidents present. Out of respect, the country will fly flags at half-mast while in the 30 days of mourning.
Due to Carter’s death, the post office will be closed on January 9th, which means there will be no USPS deliveries. Federal Offices will be closed, while businesses don’t exactly have to.
