Can you feel it, John McCrae? Can you feel that cold autumn breeze flowing chillingly through your hair? That harrowing feeling of fear burrowing itself deeply into your trembling stomach?
If you haven’t already, you most definitely will after reading this fear-inducing feature. For like the monster hunters of ancient tales and myths, the Paw Print has scouted-out and recorded some of the creepiest entities to inhabit our school community: spectacular Halloween decorations. In other words, we asked students from John McCrae to rank their top-five favourite Halloween-decorated houses this season, and this is what we found…
The Five Best-Decorated Houses in the Community
#5: The Red House
Cleverly replacing their normal white light bulbs with red ones, the owners of the Red House have successfully crafted a spooky look which illuminates the entire neighbourhood with an ominous glow. Look-out trick-or-treaters, you’re going to want to be extra-careful this Halloween season with a house like this on the block!
#4: The Hocus Pocus House
Be warned, Salem. This beautifully backlit home features a creative homage to the three Sanderson sisters through a series of crafty silhouettes. The green atmosphere inside only elevates the surreal effect that can be felt by anybody who passes through this street.
#3: Which Witch?
Trick-or-treaters will be met with “double, double, toil and trouble” when they encounter this meticulously executed home. The front yard’s witch-themed display features a giant floating witch, a bubbling cauldron, and a tree decorated with spooky pointed hats. Be sure to avoid this house on Halloween night if you don’t want to be added to a bubbling stew!
#2: The Redder House
Spectacularly illuminated by red spotlights, this house utilizes a creepy, almost rustic theme to solidify its place as a scene from a nightmare. Plus, a Grim Reaper animatronic and a tree filled to the brim with spiders and creepy dolls only adds to the eerie atmosphere created by this home.
#1: The Haunted House
With towering behemoths like the 12-foot Giant Skeleton, and the gargantuan spider, this awe-inspiring house is sure to strike fear into the hearts of anyone brave enough to enter its grounds (or even observe it from the street, for that matter). This terrifying attraction features an array of spine-tingling motion-activated animatronics, as well as a spooky graveyard, an animated ghost projection in the window, and an ominous blue glow to complete the look. According to the majority of our voters, this haunted house takes the cake for the best-decorated home this Halloween season.
Have an amazing Halloween, everyone!
