For the John McCrae student who will be wrapped up in bed, hiding from the cold this March Break: Consider doing your homework! March Break is a great time to catch up on missed assignments, or get ahead of your schoolwork for smooth sailing this spring.
The historical Log Farm on Cedarview Road was established in 1854 and continues to make maple syrup by hand to this day. Starting on March 4, you can tour the pioneer farmhouse, see the sugarbush where they make maple syrup, help collect sap, and visit the farm animals. The Log Farm is great for kids and adults!
Out of nine national museums in Canada, seven are located in Ottawa! There is an abundance of knowledge and fun at your fingertips, and at certain times, it’s even FREE! No matter what you’re interested in, there are a variety of expertly curated exhibits, interactive activities, and something else to keep you occupied this March Break. And if you’re not sure which one to visit, why not try more than one?
Explore over 700 technological artifacts, watch a pyrotechno demonstration or try using a microscope at the Canada Science and Technology Museum (free admission everyday from 4 - 5 pm)
Learn where your food comes from! Explore the newest advancements in food production and sustainability, make some pretzels, and visit the rabbits, chickens, and goats at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum (free admission from 4 - 5 pm)
Get a guided tour of Canada’s history of aerospace travel, from the first planes to space exploration at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (free admission from 4 - 5 pm)
There are four limited time exhibits and plenty of special events this March Break, such as the Animal Heroes event and war artist exhibitions at the Canadian War Museum (free admission on Thursdays from 5 - 7 pm)
Discover surprises from the Canada Library and Archives, learn about the history of television, or explore the grand hall of the Canadian Museum of History (free admission on Thursdays from 5 - 7 pm)
Visit live animals at the outdoor exhibitions, or learn all about wolves at the Canadian Museum of Nature’s special hands-on March Break exhibit! (free admission on Thursday from 5 - 8 pm)
There are a variety of special art exhibitions at the National Gallery of Canada for you and your friends to explore! (free admission on Thursday from 5 - 8 pm)
March Break is a great time to clean your room, reset your space, and have some well-needed rest and relaxation. Set yourself up for success this spring with an organized space and a fresh mind!
If the weather allows, the outdoor rink at Lansdowne is open until the end of March! You can bring your friends or family for a skate and then explore Lansdowne, or even catch a movie at the theatre nearby. Don’t forget to bundle up and bring your own skates!
Ottawa is home to a variety of walking and hiking trails and beautiful natural conservation areas. Bring your family, friends, or dogs and get some fresh air, see some wildlife, and appreciate our city’s natural beauty! Check out all of Ottawa’s conservation areas here:
