Hi!

I've been a teacher for twenty-four years now. In that time I've taught pretty much every grade level - I was even a seconded professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education for several years.

In 2021, I was voted Faces Magazine's:  'Ottawa's Favourite Teacher'. I'm going to bring the award into the classroom and show it off!

I love the arts. I won an OCDSB teaching award for integrating the arts into the curriculum, and the parents of my students nominated me for 'Citizen of the Year' because of the time and love I put into Recess Guitar Club - a club that has taught hundreds of students introductory guitar over the last ten years. We even performed for the mayor at city hall! 

Do you want to know what my favourite subject is though? Math. I've always loved math! I love to teach math! I love to solve math problems for fun! It was passed down to me from my father. My dad used to have me do his algebra questions with him when I was in kindergarten. He used to think it was funny that 4 year-old me had a bunch of square roots memorized. Whenever he had friends to impress, he'd say: "Stephie, what's the square root of 2?" And I'd say, "1.4142135!" And he would beam with pride.

I'm a mom, too. I have three great kids. And I had all three of them memorize the square roots!
