Sales
A period during which a retailer sells goods at reduced prices. Sometimes a retailer will reduce the price of an item, it's important to take advantage of these opportunities when they appear for items we planned to buy. Waiting for an item you want to go on sale is often worth it for the savings involved.
Types of sales
Percent Off: When an item is a certain 'percent off' that means that you only pay a fraction of the retail price. An item that is 25% off would only require you to pay 75% of the retail price.
Money Off: When an item is a certain amount of money off that means you subtract that amount of money from the retail price.
Buy One Get One Free: A buy one get one free sale means that you pay full price for the first item and will receive a second one at zero cost. A pack of socks costs $15 but is a part of a buy one get one free sale, when I buy the socks I will pay $15 but I will be leaving with 2 packs of socks.
Discount Days
Certain establishments, particularly restaurants, will have specific days of the week with a discount. Planning your routine around these days can lead to a great deal of savings.
