For the first time since December, sports teams have started up at John McCrae. The first sports teams to restart in 2022 were the John McCrae boys and girls curling teams. Their first games were held on the 16th of February at the Carleton Heights Curling Club. Since then their games have continued.
The OCDSB has also authorized the return to full practices for low contact sports such as volleyball, nordic (cross-country) skiing, and badminton. Furthermore, basketball and hockey can also begin practicing, but may only focus on individual and tactical skills such as shooting, passing, and game strategy. As of this point, the teams that will be subject to these rules will be the senior boys’ basketball team and the girls’ hockey team.
In the following weeks, tryouts will begin for the boys and girls volleyball and badminton teams.
We are still waiting to learn more information from Ottawa Public Health about the startup of intramural sports at JMSS
Stay tuned for more updates!
