Tuesday night of Halloween week, I went to see the new Halloween movie in the theaters. This is my view on this very different film.
The movie itself was the same old classic story of the people of Haddonfield, trying to end the long, struggling story of Michael Myers, the unkillable killer.
Yet, the fact that the movie is twenty years older changes everything. The camera quality has advanced severely. The whole era of the flim being a low budget movie and more of an art film was eliminated. I believe it is because the series is so popular. The original 1978 film was only made for a few thousand dollars but this one has a budget of 10 million dollars.
I also noticed that the movie makers were trying to make the movie more scary, which translates to pure gore. Every scene around the corner involves some sort of brain exploding, eyeballs dangling, or a knife going through one's throat.
I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys tons of blood and guts. If you're not comfortable with that then definitely STAY AWAY! I would not let someone who was under sixteen watch this film even though I am only fourteen. So if you are a diehard horror lover, then go right ahead.
This movie was a great way to get more involved with the Halloween aura of October. Reflect on your decision carefully before watching because it could scar you. And remember, be careful on Halloween, you never know who's under the mask.
