When the leaves began to fall this meant it would soon be that time of year again when the ghouls and goblins began to make an appearance. Some of us enjoy the eerie stories along with the movies that begin to play and others, not so much. But let me ask you a question? Have you ever felt like someone was watching you? Have you ever had a sense that something was lurking in the woods? If you are like many who enjoy the excitement of a good scare, especially around Halloween, then this spooktacular, creepy drive thru experience would have been perfect for your heart pounding entertainment. Would you have survived?
Located at 411 Corkstown Rd, Wesley Clover Parks Campground “DEADWOOD” describes itself as Ottawa’s haunted drive. This contactless Halloween horror drive thru experience ran from October 14 - 31, 2021.
Feelings of nervousness and fidgeting began as you were in the line up with other vehicles awaiting the scanning of your entry ticket.
When we entered through the gate, the darkness wrapped around us as we drove down the dirt road. This particular night, the scene was set perfectly as we entered the heavily wooded area with a full moon above us. In that moment, you have no choice but to gulp and keep moving forward as you enter into the unknown. Characters were screaming for help, some chasing us with chainsaws or warning us with machetes. Perfectly timed music and sound effects played, small fires were lit, all specialized effects matched the scene you were entering. It really lured you into each hair raising set. With only the lights from your car, you approached each scene trying to view the area. We held our breath in fear of what was around the next turn, wondering what or who was watching and approaching. From Jigsaw, to a scary Santa, a creepy Easter Bunny, a car/bus accident scene, and of course there had to be a clown scene and creepy twins who skipped along the dirt road and wanted to play. As all eyes were on the main characters, many other creatures and shadows would unexpectedly appear at your side windows that added to your fear making you scream and jump out of your seat.
With hearts pounding, along with laughter, shrieks and scares we finally made it to the exit. It was a spine chilling experience that we survived!!! Hopefully this attraction will return for the next haunting season.
I should also mention that for anyone who may have found the scenes extremely hair-raising, the actors have a safety plan in action. You can pull over and turn on your 4 way flashing lights and blow your horn. Someone will escort you out of the park. So I ask again, “Do you think you would have survived?”
