If you enjoy listening to and playing music, Music Appreciation is the club for you. Music Appreciation Club is all about appreciating music, whether you enjoy casual or avid listening, or even play an instrument.
When asked what drew them to the club, one student said they “joined this club because I wanted to meet other people interested in genres of music I enjoy.” Another member remarked that “it sounded like an enjoyable club, where I could share some of the music I like with other people and get introduced to other kinds of music that I wouldn't usually listen to.”
According to the teacher supervisor and lifelong band-geek, Madame St-Amour, the goal of the Music Appreciation Club is “to enjoy music together and discuss music in not so technical aspects. Just appreciating music and each other's company.” Music Appreciation Club is a way to bring musically like-minded people together so that they can discuss their favourite artists and songs.
An example of club activities include putting together a Fall Playlist, which was shared with the school in the announcements. Topics of discussion include different musical interests, and the role music plays in peoples’ lives. For example, what genres of music do people listen to in order to relax or get ready for a sporting event. Future activities will include developing future seasonal playlists and even a Study Playlist.
If this club sounds interesting and you’d like to join, they meet every Tuesday at lunch (11:50-12:27). The classroom code is gvfwrsm, and the teacher supervisor is Madame St-Amour, who you can contact at isabelle.st-amour@ocdsb.ca.
