This course prepares students for ENG4U.
This course guides students through the four essential skills of the English curriculum: oral communication, reading and literature studies, writing, and media, built on a solid foundation of the conventions of standard English and incorporating the use of analytical, critical, and metacognitive thinking skills. Students are invited to explore these forms through a unique lens incorporating First Nations, Metis, and Inuit perspectives. Through reading, listening, discussing, and writing about text forms in Canada, students also deepen their understanding of textual relationships of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit individuals, communities, and culture.
Sample tasks include: media analysis, literary essay, independent study unit, experiential learning opportunities.

Through reading, listening, discussing, and writing about text forms in Canada, students also deepen their understanding of textual relationships of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit individuals, communities, and culture.
Sample tasks include: creative podcast study, digital literary analysis, novel study, experiential learning opportunities.
