The story of Elish & The Wicker Tale began in 2019 when Azerbaijani child psychiatrist Kamran Salayev wrote a fairy tale about an autistic boy named Elish. His goal was to help families, educators, and children better understand the world of people with developmental differences, seeing it not through fear and stereotypes, but through friendship, acceptance, and mutual respect.

This warm and inspiring story demonstrated that children with special needs possess enormous potential and can grow into remarkable individuals when they are understood, encouraged, and supported.

The book quickly resonated with readers, won the international Open Eurasia Literary Competition, and was published in the United Kingdom in 2020.

История Elish & The Wicker Tale началась в 2019 году, когда азербайджанский детский психиатр Камран Салаев написал сказку о мальчике-аутисте Илише. Его целью было помочь семьям, педагогам и детям лучше понять мир людей с особенностями развития, увидеть его не через страх и стереотипы, а через дружбу, принятие и взаимное уважение.

Книга быстро нашла отклик у читателей, стала победителем международного литературного конкурса Open Eurasia и в 2020 году была опубликована в Великобритании.

Today, the project is entering a new stage of development. Timur and the team at Hertfordshire Press dream of building an international community of young artists who will work together to create new chapters of Elish’s adventures, inspiring children across different countries with messages of kindness, friendship, and acceptance of differences.

This is how charitable projects gain a new life: when one idea begins to inspire more and more people.

We are now raising funds to create and publish new volumes of Elish & The Wicker Tale, as well as to provide support for young artists who are ready to contribute their talent to this international creative initiative.
