Tanya Simethy
Tanya decided to make Math more fun by introducing a fun website called Blooket with her Grade 5 class. Her students learned about ratios and had so much fun. Here are some screenshots of questions prepared by her and also the game modes.
Blooket has tons of different game boards to choose from, so students can have a completely different experience each time they play a game.
This is a new way to level up classroom engagement - if you wish to know more you can approach Tanya.
Paulomi Dharnidharka
Paulomi recently explored an interesting website called - Quizalize with the SKG Team. She first did her research, created a student and teacher account and showed the team how you can create quizzes along with various features the App has to offer. You will notice that the App uses a game based approach, has a leaderboard, teams playing against each other and more fun elements. The best part is student sign in is very easy: you can have a code for students to enter or they can use their Google sign in)
Paulomi will further her research with this tool and then work towards exploring it with the students.
Jimi Patel
Jimi is back here in APPreciation, this time with Bingo Baker - a cool website to whip up a batch of bingo cards. The website has a variety of ready-to-use cards to choose from and you can even search for a specific type. Jimi says, 'The best thing is that you don't have to place the words on cards, all you have to do is add the list of words/images and choose the number of cards you want to create. It will generate different cards with you list of words/images for you to print'.
You can share the link with teachers / students once you create a Bingo card and they can easily play the game. Students can create their own Bingo card too.
We hope teachers use this fun tool shared by Jimi! Oh and yes, Nidhi B is an expert on the tool and is happy to help if anyone has questions.
Shrushti Thakore
With SLCs going on, Shrushti thought of getting innovative and using a new survey tool called Zoho Survey.
When you create a survey on this website, you will be offered a wide variety of question types - multiple choice, dropdown, image, rating scale, star rating, matrix choice, date/time, signature upload, etc.
It is absolutely easy to create a survey - you can simply drag and drop the question types and then do a quick preview. Once done, you can share a link of the survey and share it with students / parents / teachers.
Here is the survey created by Shrushti for SLCs:
Nidhi Bharadwaj
Nidhi Bharadwaj has made it to the APPreciation page two times in less than a month! This time Nidhi explored two tools - classtools.net and ESL Kids Games. Using the former, Nidhi created a news headline image that looks something like this:
This website is only for teacher use as it contains Advertisements.
ESL Kids Games on the other hand, has many cool games to explore ranging from vocabulary, speaking, grammar to writing, number games, board games.
Satyajeet Singh
Our Tech Integrator, SJ recently completed his Soundtrap Certified Educator Level 3 course!
SJ came across this platform when we were learning from home. This is an online platform where music can be composed and created. It can also be used by students.
A cool feature of Soundtrap is that you can record, edit and collaborate on any device, anywhere you go. Even better, all of your projects are stored online in the cloud.
Mansi K Shah
Nidhi Bharadwaj
Don't our students just love games? We have had so many Apps / Websites over the years, but ever heard of Baamboozle? I heard it for the first time last week when I got to know that Mansi K Shah and Nidhi Bharadwaj explored this fun tool with their respective Grade. This website has over 7,50,000 games created by teachers! These games are free to play, with other options to upgrade too. The best part is that you can create your own games.
This tool can be used for a quick icebreaker or during Morning Meeting / Closing Circle. Thank you to the two wonderful ladies who introduced us to it!
Aashna Shah
Our Tech Integrator, Aashna Shah has always been a Tech enthusiast and created amazing content for us. She has been using Google Suite tools for a few years now. Last week Aashna applied for the Google Certified Educator Level 1 certification after which she appeared for the exam and then nailed it!
We are sure Aashna will learn more with this and prepare for the next level of certification. Please congratulate Aashna when you get the chance.
Charmy Dave
Shikha Shah
A month ago, Charmy Dave and Shikha Shah submitted an idea to EDUtech Asiaโs Show & Tell event. Their idea was accepted a few days later, after which they were asked to work on a video. They used Book Creator and Zoom recording to talk about how Technology supported us during the pandemic and gave specific examples from SKG and Grade 2.
They heard back from EDUtech last week that their video has been accepted! They will now be presenters when the event takes place from 9-11 November, where teachers from around the world will participate! Video Link - Learning from Home with Technology
We are super proud of Charmy and Shikha for being risk takers and participating in a global event. Please congratulate them when you have the chance.
Satyajeet Singh
Our Tech Integrator Satyajeet Singh, aka SJ attended a Workshop for Teachers in Music Technology this weekend. This was hosted by Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) on a platform called Whova. Not only did he participate, he also made it to #1 on the Leaderboard. The App in focus was GarageBand to create effects. He is excited to share this with his students.
He also tweeted this on his Twitter account @midstofinquiry. Go check it out and please congratulation SJ when you have the chance!
Alrina Anthony
As an Early Years Educator, Alrina has always been curious on how to integrate Technology with that age group.
In their current unit โWho We Areโ, the focus is Play and Alrina came upon the brilliant idea to create a learning engagement on a tool we are all familiar with - Jamboard!
Using a screenshot of Connect 4 board from Google and the shapes on Jamboard, Alrina created the game in a manner that is simple for the students to play with.
Let's find out about the game from Alrina herself:
The first day I tried this game was with my homeroom class,I partnered with my co-teacher and demonstrated the game to our learners, Further to which learners were divided into groups of two. Our parents who have always been supportive helped our little learners to access the jamboard and pinned their childโs partnerโs screen at their end (which would give their child a feeling of being paired with a friend and would help to build some conversation with each other). The learners were requested to keep their mics unmuted. To my surprise, our learners began to interact by asking each other which color token would their friend prefer, taking turns and placing the token by themselves on the board. We did have a few hiccups while working on the app as whenever the child was trying to drag the token the page would automatically refresh, but that did not stop our little learners from exploring. The parents quickly arranged for another device and helped their child continue the game.
To conclude I would suggest teachers to try this tool as it is child friendly and essy to work with.
Ruchi Mahale
Last year, Ruchi completed the Book Creator Certified Author Level 1 course (read here) This year, when the applications for Book Creator Ambassador opened up, Ruchi applied for the role. In the process, not only did she have to show the use of this amazing tool, but also answer a plethora of questions. After spending days working on her application and later submitting it, Ruchi heard back from the team with a calendar invite. Upon attending, she was congratulated and welcomed into the Book Creator Ambassador Team! ๐
Ruchi is now one of India's 9 Book Creator Ambassadors and proudly represents our school on their map! She will also receive some swag from the team! ๐
Please congratulate Ruchi when you have the chance.
Preksha Gala
Don't we all love shopping? Preksha created a super fun Math game on Google Forms by adding a shopping element to it. The game also has customised Bitmojis, speech bubbles, clean PNG images and good eye-catching graphics. There is also a code word that appears after a few questions, which is of use towards the end and is required to exit the game. I am pretty sure Grade 3 students will enjoy this fun learning game.
What are you waiting for, teachers? Go shopping! ๐
Gunjan Shah
After attending the Keynote WIT, Gunjan put up a huge effort and created a wonderful video showing Addition with Regrouping.
You can see how you can explain a Math concept in a simple way by using some Animations. Gunjan has also added a voice over explaining the concept as the video plays.
An interesting animation in the video is the note getting split into two parts with a pair of scissors ๐โ๏ธ
Roshni Narang
Roshni is not new to our APPreciation page! She has always been creative with Technology and ensured fun learning for students. This time, she has created a Word Work Activity on Seesaw using Bitmojis, PNG images, colourful graphics, clear instructions and also displayed a good use of Seesaw tools.
Roshni attended Seesaw Connect 2021 where one of the courses spoke about Multidimensional seesaw learning and how to use Seesaw tools to create something interesting and engaging. This led to her reflecting and then creating the activity.
You can try to complete this activity as a student and you will have fun - I enjoyed it this morning!
Priyam Choksi
She is back here! Our tech-savvy Grade 2 teacher, Priyam has created a fun Escape Room on Seesaw for their unit on choices about nutrition. I enjoyed the activity - you won't be able to add pizza, burger and other junk food to your lunch box ๐ข At the end, you will have a healthy box of food! Here is the Activity on Seesaw. I am sure students must have had so much fun!
Additionally, at the beginning of the unit, Priyam created a fun video for parents on Animaker to show them what the unit has in store for the students. Along with images, great titles, music, you can see a lot of animations which make the video interesting! Here is the video! Animaker is a great tool if you wish to create videos for students with animations and other fun elements!
Dimple Bhatia
Our students love game based learning, don't they? Quizizz is a great tool for engaging students in quizzes and polls. Dimple has mastered this tool by applying for the Quizizz Certified Game Changer status and also successfully achieving it. She received a warm welcome from the Quizizz Team. Here is a quiz created by her. Congratulations Dimple!
