MUSIC - please bring music that you are currently working on - and would like to work on at the program. It is always a good idea to bring a 3-hole punched copy of the music you'd like to perform in a master class or recital to share with the pianist!
CLOTHES - Dress is casual for daily activities. You are welcome to dress-up for the performances if you like, however a tuxedo or gown is not expected.
As it is cool in the air-conditioned Conservatory war, outside, please bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case you need it.
HANGERS/LINENS - If you have room in your suitcase, a small reading light is always nice to bring along as the dorm rooms only have a ceiling light. WE SUPPLY A LINEN PACK THAT INCLUDES TWO FLAT SHEETS, A PILLOW, PILLOWCASE, BATH TOWEL, HAND TOWEL, however, if you would prefer to bring your own linens, please do so! Although the dormitory is air-conditioned, you might like to bring a fan.
Please be sure to pack a few hangers as there are no hangers in your dormitory closet.

DORMITORY
PROGRAM STAFF - Program assistant(s) and Residential Education staff members are available to help you navigate your way around the Conservatory and the Oberlin campus - so always feel free to ask them questions. You will meet the staff on the very first day in the Conservatory Lounge during Registration and the Dormitory Orientation. We'll have a dormitory meeting led by program assistants on the first night of your stay here at Oberlin. The assistants will go over program rules and regulations with you and be available for any questions you might have regarding your stay here at Oberlin.
Please be sure to report to the Dormitory Front Desk Monitor every evening. We expect everyone to be in the dormitory by 10pm. In order to make sure you are well-rested, we ask that everyone is in their room and quiet by 11pm.
There will be a staff member at the dormitory front desk every evening from 10pm-12:30am. Please feel free to stop by and say hello - questions and just plain visiting is welcome! Staff are on-call via the staff cell phone. Please call this number should you get locked out of your room, or need any further assistance!
Please note that guests are not permitted in the dormitory rooms overnight. Every student is expected to sleep in their own assigned room to ensure roommate's rights are not infringed upon, and in the event of an emergency, staff can quickly and easily locate all residents.
MOVING OUT OF YOUR ROOM - Please be sure to leave all your linens (pillow, towels, sheets, blanket) on your bed. Please also clean-up your room making sure all trash is in trash cans. The cleaner the room, the more easily you can find your belongings and not leave them by accident! Upon checking-out, please be sure to return your campus access and meal card to program staff.
MEDICAL ATTENTION
We are only 5-minutes away from the Oberlin Mercy Walk-in Clinic and the Oberlin Mercy Allen Hospital. In the event that you are injured or ill, we will be sure to notify your parents and take you to a care facility.
PROGRAM POLICIES
Participants are required to attend all institute events with openness and a willingness to learn new things.
ASK QUESTIONS! - One of the great things about attending a college summer program is that the faculty have time for you (school is not in session), so take advantage and learn all you can! We invite you to seek out the assistants, faculty, Summer Program Manager, should you have any concerns or questions - we are here for you!
Please keep valuables with you at all times, or lock them in your locker. If you did not get a locker combination at registration, and you would like to use a locker, please ask the program assistant to help you with this assignment.
Please turn your cell phone off, during all program sessions to avoid distraction.
DRESS CODE - We encourage you to dress comfortably, however respectfully. The Conservatory and dining hall are air-conditioned, while the dormitory is not. Please feel free to dress-up for final concerts.
REGULATIONS - We look forward to making your time here at Oberlin as enjoyable and productive as possible. To do so, we ask that all participants help to foster a respectful and supportive environment for everyone in the program.

*SEXUAL HARASSMENT - It is the policy of Oberlin College to maintain an academic and work environment free of sexual harassment for students, faculty, and staff. Sexual harassment is contrary to the standards of the College community. It diminishes individual dignity and impedes equal employment and educational opportunities and equal access to freedom of academic inquiry. Sexual harassment is a barrier to fulfilling the College's scholarly, research, educational, and service missions. It will not be tolerated at Oberlin. The College will handle sexual harassment complaints consistently with procedural guidelines developed to ensure prompt and equitable resolution of such complaints.
Some examples of conduct that may constitute sexual harassment include, but are not limited to: Unwanted sexual statements - sexual or "dirty" jokes, comments on physical attributes, spreading rumors about or rating others as to sexual activity of performance, talking about one's sexual activity in front of others, and displaying or distributing sexually explicit drawings, pictures and/or written material. Unwanted sexual statements can be made in person, in writing, electronically (email, instant messaging, blogs, web pages, etc.), and otherwise.
Unwanted personal attention - letters, telephone calls, visits, pressure for sexual favors, pressure for unnecessary personal interaction, pressure for dates where a sexual/romantic intent appears evident but remains unwanted, and stalking.
