Oberlin College Equestrian Team
Welcome to the website for the Oberlin College Equestrian Team (OCET)!
The first team meeting of the year for all our new and returning members is WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30th in WILDER 211. If you are interested in joining the team, please come and meet us! THURSDAY AUGUST 31 there will be mandatory evaluation rides for new riders in the evening! We will meet in the Finney parking lot for these! (Next to DeCafe/Wilder)
OCET is a club sport team at Oberlin College. Members of the team ride at Equine Differences, a barn owned by our coach Ric Weitzel. We're lucky to have a barn only a few minutes from campus and to have the fantastic support of the Weitzels! Our team is close-knit and many members choose to show with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in hunt seat equitation and western horsemanship/reining.
We work closely with the Oberlin College Dressage Team, but it is currently a separate team.
OCET was established in the 1980s by Jotham Tausig. The team has grown to around 30 active members as of 2017, making it one of the biggest club sports at Oberlin. We welcome riders of all abilities and experience, even those who have never ridden before. For those who have never ridden, we recommend you take the single module athletics class first. You will be introduced to how to set up the equipment as well as ride a horse, by Ric and two of your teammates!
For more information about joining, showing, or what we do, please see our FAQs page. If you are visiting the campus and would like to see the barn, please contact email@example.com.
