As part of the inaugural NIEMOpen Reveal Training Summit, we'll host a Code-a-Thon challenge. This will give developers the chance to create and pitch information exchanges using NIEM, targeting key priorities identified by mission representatives from Justice, Homeland Security, Health, Social Services, National Intelligence, and more. The goal of this Code-a-Thon is to demonstrate how these exchanges can securely and efficiently share data between agencies across diverse technologies, all while preserving privacy.
Three-day challenge details
The three-day Code-a-Thon challenge will kick off with presentations from mission area representatives, who will also serve as judges. They’ll outline the information-sharing challenges they face in their daily operations, and teams will have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions.
Following the presentations, teams will have two days to develop information-sharing exchanges and, if possible, implement a solution.
At the end of the second day, the teams will present their developed exchanges/solutions to the judges, who will evaluate each one and select the winners for each mission or issue area.
How to participate
Any solution provider, government agency, academic institution, or non-profit is encouraged to participate in this Code-a-Thon challenge to help address information-sharing issues and showcase their capabilities to develop a NIEM-based solution.
