Dear Parents & Carers,
What a busy and festive time it has been in the academy this week as we move closer to the end of the module. Our corridor is full of excitement, curiosity, and plenty of Christmas cheer.
Last week, our Year 3 pupils ventured out on their much-anticipated trip to Dover Museum. The children were fully engaged throughout the day, making meaningful connections to their learning and returning to the academy buzzing with new knowledge and enthusiasm. A big thank you to Mr Powell, Mrs Cooper, Mrs Mehigan and Miss Roffey who supported the visit and helped make it such a valuable learning experience.
In yesterday's assembly, our Year 5 pupils lit up the hall with their energetic Christmas break dance. Their confidence, teamwork and joy were a delight to watch and a wonderful way to bring our community together at the end of the week. Well done to all who performed—you made us incredibly proud.
We are now deep into our Christmas Performance season. Performances have been taking place throughout this week, filling the academy with music, storytelling, and sparkle. Next week, we look forward to even more shows from our talented pupils. The dedication and effort they have put into rehearsals are clear to see, and we are excited for families to share in these special moments.
Looking ahead, I am pleased to welcome families into classrooms on Tuesday at 2:45pm for a celebration of pupils’ inquiry learning. This open-classroom time will give you the chance to explore the Lines of Inquiry your children have been investigating and the skills they have developed along the way. I hope you enjoy seeing their curiosity and thinking in action.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to sharing a joyful and inspiring final stretch of the module with you all.
Best Wishes,
Mr L Coulson
We are looking forward to being welcomed by St Martin's Church on Tuesday 16th December for our whole school Christmas celebration. St Martin's host our annual Christmas and Easter gatherings so that we can celebrate these as a whole school community and have the space to invite our families. We are so grateful for the support and sense of community they provide.
While we learn about all Religions and Worldviews at Oaks, our Christmas Celebrations at St Martin's include the story of Christingle, a symbolic orange to represent Christ as the light of the world for Christians at Christmas time. Pupils sing a variety of songs and also a couple of songs which are significant at Christmas time, telling the story of Jesus.
We look forward to welcoming you to St Martin's on Tuesday to celebrate Christmas together.
If you need any further information, please contact Mrs Mehigan via the school office.
