Netflix Dashboard: Exploring Netflix Media Offerings Based on User Preferences
Rachel Anthony - Management Information Systems with Computer Science Minor and Specialization in Business Analytics

This project is for Netflix’s streaming service, specifically internal employees who make decisions regarding what media is displayed on the front end of the platform. The dashboard allows users to visualize the diversity in the media Netflix offers to ensure that what they are providing their customers with is the optimal selection to attract and maintain their loyalty. Using current data on the preferences and trends of their users and other general data, they can alter their offerings to provide more movies and TV shows that fall into the trending categories and remove some that do not. This creates a library of media that customers can continually watch because there are so many different options available that there is always something new to watch.
We utilized Microsoft Excel, VBA, and Power BI to create this dashboard. Excel allowed us to perform a majority of the data exploration and cleaning, while Power BI was used to create the dashboard by calculating fields from the imported Excel data file. All in all, coupling the usage of Excel and Power BI allowed our dashboard to be dynamic and ready to have new data incorporated into it to further analyze Netflix’s offerings.
