Biking on the historic Silver Comet Trail!! This converted train track is part of the second longest rail to trail in the US named after The Silver Comet passenger train. Scouts will be organized into separate riding groups based on skill/experience levels (novice, intermediate/advanced) and ride an out-and-back route on the trail. All scouts will ride 7.5 miles from The Beautiful Rock Campground to the McPherson Road Church Trailhead passing through the amazing 800' Brushy Mountain Tunnel. The older and more experienced scouts will continue up to 6 additional miles to the Tara Drummond Trailhead across two bridges before turning around. Both groups will stop for lunch along the way. Scouts need to bring money for the Sunday lunch stop on the return trip.
Helmets are required and bikes must be in safe working order. We will be performing bike safety checks at check-in prior to departing for the trip. We can provide a limited number of helmets and bikes for scouts that need them on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate any needs in the registration form.
Review all our campout guidelines here to ensure you know about expectations regarding medical forms, adult training, cancellations, refunds, and the requirement that Scouts participate fully in the campout.
Medical Forms and Adult training (YPT and Haz Weather) are due when registration closes. Work on them now!
If your scout will take medications during the weekend, please have your Scout turn it over to the medical officer when arriving for departure at OGUMC.
