Dr. Madeline Naegle is nationally and internationally known for program development, publications and implementation of policy in addiction and psychiatric nursing, with a focus on older adults. Her activities have included efforts on the integration of behavioral health into health professional education and practice. Her leadership in organized nursing includes development of international consultation and education and establishment of the NYU College of Nursing WHO Collaborating Center in Geriatric Nursing Education. She is a Health and Aging Policy Fellow, Class of 2016-17 and serves as Associate Director, RMCON Center for Drug Use and HIV Research.
Dr. Bei Wu joins NYU’s Rory Meyers College of Nursing as a fully tenured Professor of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Law from Shanghai University and her PhD in Gerontology from University of Massachusetts Boston.
Dr. Wu’s career in gerontology has been distinguished by interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers in various disciplines (particularly in nursing and in dentistry) at many academic institutions and organizations in the U.S. and abroad. She has provided keynote presentations, lectures, and/or consultation in dozens of universities and organizations in the United States and globally, including China, Singapore, the Netherlands, Norway, and Turkey. As Principal Investigator, she has led a significant number of projects supported by federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her numerous publications cover a variety of issues related to aging and health, including long-term care, dementia, caregiving, and oral health. She has served on a number of NIH review panels and is also a frequent grant reviewer for the Research Fund of Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau, Medical Research Council (United Kingdom), and Chang Jiang Scholars Program at the Ministry of Education of China.
Since the 1990s, Dr. Nancy Van Devanter has conducted behavioral intervention research integrating a community based participatory research approach into the development and testing of theory-driven interventions to promote health and reduce disease in populations with significant health disparities in HIV, STDs and tobacco related disease. She has also worked in close collaboration with state and local health departments to develop programs improve community level health and public health practice. Since coming to NYU she has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary collaborative studies with the NYU School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Public Health Program.
Dr. Robin Toft Klar has focused her work on the environmental context of nursing for decades. This work has evolved and her research focuses on the influence of the built environment on population health outcomes and care delivery locally and globally. She has a portfolio of health workforce projects in LMIC’s in West and East Africa.
