Barbara Browning has been teaching for the last 23 years in the Department of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She is the author of three academic books (Samba, Infectious Rhythm, and Caetano Veloso: A Foreign Sound), as well as three novels (The Correspondence Artist, I’m Trying to Reach You, and The Gift). She is also a dancer, poet, and amateur ukuleleist. Her next book, co-authored with Sébastien Régnier, is coming out in February (Who the Hell is Imre Lodbrog?).

Richard Schechner is editor of TDR: The Journal of Performance Studies. He is an NYU University Professor Emeritus. From 1967 to 2017, he was a Professor and then University Professor of Performance Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Among the plays he's directed are Dionysus in 69, Commune, The Tooth of Crime, Mother Courage and Her Children, Cops, The Marilyn Project, Seneca's Oedipus, Faust/gastronome, Three Sisters, Swimming to Spalding, and Imagining O. His productions have been seen in China, South Africa, India, Taiwan, Poland, France, and Romania. His books include Public Domain, Environmental Theater, The End of Humanism, Between Theater and Anthropology, The Future of Ritual, Performed Imaginaries, and Performance Studies: An Introduction. His books have been translated into 18 languages. He has taught, lectured, led workshops, and directed plays around the world.
